August updates!

August 20th, 2009

Hi guys,

I can’t thank you all for the support. It’s been kind of quiet without the fans during training camp, but it’s always great to see you guys during the open practices.

Camp has gone well. I feel healthy and am ready for the season to begin. I personally can not wait to start hitting other people besides my teammates.

Thank you for all the concern during my collision with Eric Weddle. I am fine. It happens in football sometimes, but the good news – we’re both ok. Eric is a good friend of mine so there’s no hard feelings. He’s an intense player that plays 100% all the time. I like that in a teammate. So again, thank you for all the e-mails and concern.

My foundation started an auction for my 2008 Gene Upshaw jersey. The winning bidder gets my game used jersey, 2 tickets to the Monday Night Football game vs. the Denver Broncos, and after the game hang out in the family parking lot with my family and teammates. You’ll get the opportunity to meet the other players, ask for autographs, and get to know us with our helmets off. If you want to place a bid on the Ultimate Fan Experience, e-mail me at quentin@jammerfoundation.org

I wanted to welcome the kids of San Pasqual back to school! Good luck to the Dragons Football Team and I wish everyone at the school a prosperous 2009 academic year. We recently provided food for the kids welcoming them all back. I wanted to send special thanks to the people that made it happen. Debby Syverson from San Pasqual, Filippis Pizza Grotto, Sushi on a Roll (SOAR), and L&L’s Hawaiian BBQ.

My wife Alicia is participating in ‘Walk Like MADD 2009′ to raise funds for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. Having 3 kids of our own, we find it worthwhile to support organizations like MADD. If you would like to participate and join Alicia during her walk, please click on the following link and look for ‘Jammer Family Foundation.’

Alicia has a  friendly competitive bet with Laura Cane of Star 94.1. The person that raises less money – will have to run Torrey Pines.

Before training camp, I had the opportunity to play some golf at Pechanga with the guys from ProLawn Care. That golf course is beautiful. I wish I had played better, but now that I have my Taylor Made R9’s, the score will definitely start improving, hopefully.  :-)

I also wanted to send a special thanks to Paul over at Carl Burger Dodge. Check out this new Dodge Charger that I’m driving around in. I will have more pictures later.  At the end of the season, Paul is going to raffle off this car to a lucky winner. I’ll get you guys more information how to sign-up. But man, I love the customized elements they put in it. This car is a beast! Thanks Dodge!

Other than that, we’re off to Arizona in a couple of days and getting ready for this season to begin!

TAYLOR MADE ‘THE KINGDOM’ FITTING

I had an amazing opportunity to experience firsthand ‘The Kingdom’ at Taylor Made headquarters in Carlsbad. I’ve been wanting to switch from my R7’s to the new R9 Burners in hopes my scores improve! You see, I recently played in the San Diego Celebrity Classic and I came in dead last. If you haven’t attended the San Diego Celebrity Classic, I highly suggest you go next year, Cheryl and her group run a first class tournament. After much heckling and teasing from teammates and friends, I am hoping to improve my position next year. Hopefully with these new clubs, I’ll win the bet.

Alan and Lizzy of Taylor Made assisted me with the fitting. I also had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how the clubs are made. It’s true what they say that golf is a science. They had computers to view my swing, ball flight, speed of the club, etc… it was a tad bit overwhelming, but overall what an experience.

Thanks Alan and Lizzy for such an amazing time. Also, please extend our thanks to Mr. King…it was nice talking to him as well.

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH LUDACRIS
No, I’m not old! I might be 30 but I feel 20! :-)

My beautiful wife Alicia threw a surprise birthday party for me on Friday at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. I had no idea what was going on as I was blindfolded when I arrived for dinner.  After dinner, we went to the Cherry Night Club where my teammates, friends, and family all surprised me with their attendance. I normally don’t like being the center of attention, but it was such an amazing scene! Good family, good friends, and good people….

That’s not all, Alicia had another surprise up her sleeve…the music in the club suddenly stopped, and to my amazement, Ludacris, yes, Luda the rapper gets on the mic and starts performing for us. I love Ludacris, I can’t believe he performed a 2-hour set!

I feel blessed and thank each and everyone that attended my birthday party. There are no words to express how much I appreciate each and everyone of you. I’ll try and get some more pictures from the event and will post….

SAN PASQUAL ACADEMY SENIOR DINNER
On Monday, June 15th we had an amazing dinner with the 2009 graduating class of San Pasqual Academy. With the generosity of Mission Valley Benihana’s, we were able to treat all the kids to a steak, shrimp, or chicken dinner. The chefs were amazing as usual – they had the kids laughing and enjoying every minute while preparing their meal. We can’t thank the entire Mission Valley crew enough. Tim, Debbie, Francis you guys rock!

But before dinner, the kids travelled in style by the generous support of Epic Limo in providing a limo bus! Ryan from Epic Limo provided a full sized limo bus that had the kids traveling in style. There was music, dancing, and absolute class. We highly recommend using Epic Limo for any of your events. These guys know what they’re doing. www.epiclimo.com

Darren Sproles and Antoine Cason also made a surprise appearance for the kids and joined us for dinner. The kids had an opportunity to take photos, get autographs, and most important – just spend time with them and chat.

Now I’m getting hungry just thinking about the food…..

SAN PASQUAL GRADUATION
Alicia and I have always made it a priority to attend San Pasqual’s graduation. This year, just like the previous years was very emotional.  You ever go to a graduation ceremony and listen to speech after speech and barely make it through without dozing off?  At San Pasqual Academy it’s different. The speeches, stories, and motivational messages are so powerful that I often find myself emotional over the adversities these kids have gone through. These kids are truly inspirational and we are so proud of them for their achievements.

When I wake up in the morning, or when I prepare for a game – my adversities are making sure my 3 sons don’t beat each other up and or worry about the receiver line up in front of me on Sunday. These kids have faced so much more, they’ve faced real life adversities… I truly commend each and everyone of them for making it.

Although they’ve graduated, Alicia and I have promised to stay in touch with them and will continue to track them in college! I love receiving e-mails and text messages from these kids before a game….they are heroes in my book.

It’s a boy! Meet Kasen Orin Jammer!

Once again thank you for all the e-mails!

Season is right around the corner!

April 7th, 2009

Hi guys,

It’s been a very busy off-season for me but I am now logged in and writing in my journal. Thank you so much for the e-mails and letters regarding my hamstring. I am glad to report the hamstring I pulled during the Pittsburgh game is now 100%. I started to rehab immediately after the season and can’t even feel any repercussions from the pull.

I haven’t really had an opportunity to get away because Alicia and I are expecting our 3rd son in a couple of days. We did visit Napa Valley for a couple of days but have primarily been staying close to home. We also celebrated Kaden and Kaleb’s 1st and 2nd birthday this past March. Here are some photos from the celebration. They both love Mickey Mouse.

Besides rehab, birthdays, family trips, and a new baby on the way, we also moved to a new house to accommodate our growing family. Luckily, we didn’t move too far from our first house – just a couple of blocks away. Here are some photos of our new house. If you guys ever need artificial lawn installed in your yard, I highly recommend ProLawn Turf. These guys were amazing, professional, and got the job done right the first time. Go with these guys – they know what they’re doing!

I can not wait for this season to begin! Last season, we had so many lingering questions with injuries even before the first snap. Luckily, we are healthy going into camp this year. We have started to lift and currently in off-season sessions. This team is focused, so many players have reported and putting in extra time before mini-camp begins.

Ok, I have to log-off for now. Alicia and I are expecting this baby anyday now. I’ll get you pictures of the new baby as soon as possible.

Thanks for your support.
